About Home & Workshop Solar

Make Your Own Power.

Home & Workshop Solar is the homestead of the Bush & Bench family. It helps homeowners, DIY builders and off-grid users plan, choose and look after reliable, cost-effective solar and battery systems for a home, workshop or shed.

Meet Sunny

Sunny, 30, is the youngest of the Bush family's four daughters and presents Home & Workshop Solar. She hosts the clips and guides from her yellow corner of the family shed, with the panels on the shed roof, the battery bank and the inverter close at hand.

Sunny explains and compares solar gear so you can make an informed choice. She doesn't claim to have personally tested it. Where real testing is shown, it's real workshop footage.

Who it's for

How guides are written

Guides explain the method behind each decision rather than handing out one-size-fits-all numbers. Technical details are checked against manufacturer documentation and applicable Australian requirements.

Safety and the law

In Australia, any work on mains (240V) wiring, including connecting an inverter or battery to a home's switchboard, must be done by a licensed electrician. Grid-connected systems also need approval from your electricity network. The guides here help you plan and understand your system; they're not a substitute for licensed installation.

How the site makes money

Some guides may include affiliate links to panels, batteries or other gear. If you buy through one, the site may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are always disclosed on the page where they appear.
